Informing Northumbria police of buying shotgun

Hi lads and lasses

 

My certificate came today and going to collect gun tomorrow my question is can I email them to let them know or do I have to send recorded delivery? Also what info do I have to give?

when you get you gun from shop they will give you some paper work to send to cops needs to be sent within 7 days

RECORED DELIVERY make sure you keep the recipt for proof

if your getin it of a mate they want to no

ie

12g

o/u or semi, s/s

serial number

name of person

address

phone number

your cert number and his just copy wats on his ticket and send it off he will help you if not gun shop will do it for you

if your buy of them

Cheers mate but am getting it off one of the lads on here so probably no paper work to send to police.

In which case you will need to send them a form stating gun make, model, serial number and sgc numbers for you both. They usually send you copies of the forms when you get your SGC. If in doubt ring your FEO as you will need the other persons details.

I had a HUGE ho-har over a gun that I had sold, but the police never changed it's details on the database, as the Gun was sent to Scotland.

I (very fortunately) managed to get in contact with the chap who bought it via email, and he was very helpful in straightening everything out.

 

I'd be a happy man if I didn't have to go though the whole experience again, so trust me, it's really worth just sending it off recorded delivery and being sure.

 

 

*edit* - If your completely new to this, you need to fill in a form (Blank ones can be found Here, under 'Sale or purchase form' PDF on the right) and send it off to the police within 7 days.

Nothumbria defno take emails as confirmation on shotguns, give them all the info as you would normally and add a line on the end saying, please can you reply to acknowledge reciept of this email. Done nothing else for 5 years and had no probs, just print their reply out and put in a shoot folder or keep in your inbox.

 

Edit - the name of the person and details of who replies is in their signature so you have evidence, you need nothing else.

I to always just mail them and ask for an acknowledgement.It has worked all the time and I keep copies of all mails.
