hi guys,

i've bought a choke gauge off ebay so i can see what my baikal sbs is choked at as i'm thinking of selling it, this may be obvious to most but i've never used one before, when i put it in the end of my barrels one has got 1/4 sticking out the top the other has got improved, now does this mean its 1/4-imp or is it 1/2-1/4 as they are the size that fits in the end?

thanks in advance

It depends on the choke guide, but generally it is the size above the line, therefore the size you can read!

Hi,

If you're talking about the stepped or possibly tapered type usually made of brass, then your second (1/2 - 1/4) assumption is correct. I'm sure you realise that these are only intended as a rough guide as they take no account of the main barrel dimension.

Cheers

its a bisley brass choke gauge mate, i assumed it would be the one inside the barrel making it 1/4 and 1/2 but if its the external its imp and 1/4, what sort of shooting generally would imp and 1/4 be used for?

cheers for the reply mate
