bakerboy
The other night I took out an old air rifle "a snow peak" Japanese manufacture. I was playing around with it to see how far it could shoot, I have a field that is very chalky and dusty and you can easily see where the pellet lands by a plume of white dust. I estimated the range to be about 175 yards, possibly more. The gun is an under leaver action not a break barrel. It certainly out ranged by a long way my sons BSA Lightning .22 air rifle. My question is, should I have it tested to confirm how powerful it really is or should i just leave it and say nothing? I will take on board any or all suggestions. Thanks Terry

bakerboy
get it tested baker....are you sure you picked the right gun up after been to the bahumbug I went straight to the Bah Humbug as soon as I got home as I could not believe what had happened. It is hard to believe that my young nephew had been playing with this weapon unsupervised for a number of years and then got bored with it and left it in the garage. kent
Looking at that link it seems plod can turn an air rifle up if it has an ajuster. Suppose that comes under the " is capable" bit but were do we stop on that one? I have always favoured a slightly higher limit with legislation similar to that which shotguns are now,or even previously on the old white ticket all said and done we have to secure them away from under 18's etc now anyway. sorry for going off thread a little but get that gun tested asap
dougall
not granny and eggs etc but is it also a .22?If .177 then they certainly seem to go further? If it .22 then it goes look a bit ott.Do you have a fac?
