The Duncan
Wicked! I remember mine like it was yesterday - albeit many years ago now Mixture of feelings - pride in a job well done and a clean, clinical kill and a touch of remorse as you look down at the now de-animated wild creature. mmm.... redwine gravy, mushrooms and creamy mashed potato with caramelised onion and crispy cheese topping

The Duncan
After a while killing them is as easy as breathing :yp: True. But when you're new to it, the first one is an important moment. Gravitas.

Come on man! Details? WHat was the stalk like? time of day? conditions - how did you feel? Was it a clinical shot? What did you make of skinning and butchering? Enquiring mind needs to know! stokie3
it was 7.30 in the evening slight breeze we sat on a bank near the hedge line quitely chatting (i was with the guy whos land it is) when the rabbit hopped out 20 yards from where we were it was a one shot kill which i enjoyed but then felt slightly guilty for a second or two i gave my first kill to the landowner.... The Duncan
Sounds like the coney gave himself up, as they tend to this time of year: a lot of sitters rather than bolters. Glad you felt the remorse too - its what makes us human. TBH, I still occasionally feel it when I've shot a grey squirrel, possibly because their paws are almost like our hands. Don't go telling nobody! They might think I'm soft :look: Cheers Duncan
artschool
True. But when you're new to it, the first one is an important moment. Gravitas. I was just joking. I remember the first rabbit I shot whilst learning to lamp, I couldn't believe I had actually hit it. Congrats op, it is sure to be the first of many
team tractor
I remember my 1st when i was 14(29 now) and i wasnt clean and was panicing about loosing it so i went through barbed wire and stingers to get it. Thursday i shot 5 and thought nothing of it now after i assume what must be over a thousand rabbits Ive shot. Well done anyway
Albion
Well done! I've never had a lot of sympathy for rabbits (maybe cos they taste so good) but I feel more for the corvids because they have a look of intelligence about them. Plus magpies are a devil of a job to shoot. They can see through windows dammit!
