well with all this warm weather alot of my hens have gone broody so i decided to build my hen numbers up. :good:

first broody was sat on 12 eggs and hatched 10 off so was pleased with that :good:

second one is only a small hen so put 6 under her and got 4 chicks off them so not bad :good:

and ive just put 14 eggs under a big hen so hoping for a good return from them

all the eggs are mixed varieties from other poultry keepers so should have a good mix of breeds

Used to be a chicken man, you have what looks to be a wellsummer ( the brown and yellow one ) there or it could be a cream legbar female but if memory serves me they are black and yellow with similar markings, however i let my carefully managed stock go to pot and ended up with about 30 crows. horrible black things that deserved the name and laid rediculously small eggs. Spent the last few weeks rounding up and scaling down and re-penning! Nothing like the cheep cheep of chicks after waiting for weeks!

Just got my first Guinea fowl hatched and in brooder, now waiting 3 days for my Turkey and Pheasant eggs to go into hatcher, then the fun begins  It's been a first time for me, built my own 250 egg incubator and separate hatcher, should have done it years ago

200 of my own pheasant eggs and bought my Reeves, White and Turkey eggs on line but 1 Turkey, had like, a small punch crack in the shell, normally they are thrown away, but as the inner membrane had not been punctured, after washing, sealed with silicon sealer  Anyway, it candled fertile ok after 7 days, so, maybe nowt lost :D Just call me a tight "hairy person"
