Which 4x4 to go for out of these 3?

So it doesn't need to seat more than 5 people? Only needs to cater for Mum, Dad, baby and associated family luggage? And needs to be of similar spec and power to a Golf VR6? And won't be for off road use?

How are any of the three you listed similar to a Golf VR6? Apart from being able to seat 5 people. Maybe the performance? But that would surely only be straight-line speed as none of them will handle as well as a VR6. Perhaps better than a VR6 off road but then it won't be for off road use.

Sounds like a pokey family hatchback or estate fits the bill? Or is it that you fancy a bit of 4x4 presence and lifestyle?

the 5 litre v10 Tdi would be a lot of fun.

You have to go with whatever you enjoy the most within financial constraints. Having said that if you don't need any off road performance, some of the midsize / larger german estates are fantastic machines.

The finish in the Range Rover vogue models is something else, a different legue compared to the rest. The Tregs are very comfortable however and for a Veedub the interior finish is exceptional, no rattles or squeeks and everything feels solid. Also the Treg has a low range box and locking diffs, can't speak for the others.

As question.

My Heart Says Range Rover, but head says Volvo X90 or Vw Touareg.

Can anyone speak from experience of any other these?

Possibly will go for new on the personal contract thing, or 2/3 year old.

Simple

get an XC90 superb motor Ive had one for a few years now, never had a days trouble with it,built like a tank and if you carry family safe as houses with all the airbag

now if you want to be a wannbe drug dealer get a range rover, apart from the stigma attached to them and the un reliable cost a fortune to mend factor there not a bad motor

the XC90 will also hold there money better than the RR,also look at the XC60

There we are. You, sir, want a Chelsea Tractor :)

Take your pick - Disco, Rangey, X5, XC90, Toerag, Shogun - they're all big, got chunky tyres and will mount a kerb effortlessly :good:

And provide a top notch line of sight above the traffic, hold on well in the wet and generally make you feel superior over all the peasents and paupers.

Also it upsets the green movement which is always nice.

You also don't need to justify wanting or needing one to lug baby and all its gumph around in. Just get out, try them all, buy the bad boy and enjoy it :)

Of the ones I've driven and abused (mostly hire cars) I'd go for the XC60 - good balance of poise, performance (D5), premium feel (go at least SE and add Lux pack if you can) and that bit of 4x4ness to help you out whilst not being too big that it's a pain in the **** to park or pop to the shops in.
