rcooke25552
U can get a certificate of transferr from the Cheshire firearms website. I believe you can email them your details. If doing It by post send it recorded and keep the receipt. The person you buy the gun from will write on your cert an you write kn his. semiautolee
the person who you are buying it off, should fill in your certificate with the details of the gun, his address, licence number, signature and date etc. either the person who you bought it from will fill in a transfer form and you then send it to police...... or you can send a letter to the police saying you have purchased..make of gun, calibre, serial no, who you got it from, his address and his licence number, your name, your licence number and address, the date of transfer dont forget to send it first class recorded delivery within 7 days of transfer i dont think i have missed anything out..... humperdingle
Okay i have had a good look on NYP website and found a transfere form is this literally all i have to do just send them the transfere form? no letter or other formalities? All the info necessary should be on the form. Write a covering letter if you like, but not necessary. I do all mine by email now. Much easier if it's available with your force HQ. Just ask them for a receipt email.

Bloke
I know I am a bit paranoid, but I like to keep a copy of all forms for my records, just in case. :yp:
artschool
i made a load of mistakes when i first bought a second hand shotgun but the firearms lot sorted it all out! next one was easy because the shop did it for me all i had to do was put a letter in the post. njc110381
Just to be sure - you don't have to write on the sellers SGC. They should send a note in with all your details to say they sold it to you, but you don't write that on the ticket. I got a ####ing for that once. They have to write it on your SGC and then you also have to send in another form to say that you've aquired it. This is so they get the info from the buyer and the seller, making the security of the transaction more genuine as both parties confirm the same story I guess?
