I have been stopped a few times by the bobbies usually whilst travelling either to or from a shoot (consequence of driving through a town when the night clubs are emptying) each time asked what are you doing / where are you going? never yet needed to show a license for my guns.

another time I was shooting rabbits in an industrial area, armed response vehicle (ford ranger) pulls up next to mine and gives it the once over, I walked accross and spoke top the two lads, elder one grumpily says we have had reports of shooting etc etc, younger one says we have done a vehicle check you must be so and so then says you are the lucky sod who shoots here I was after this? again no check on license, so yes they do know who you are.

In fact I gained my latest golf course due to the police getting involved with scallies using shotties on pheasant and rabbit at night, and the club president and green keeper being told that if you have someone coming round regular it will keep the rabbits down and the scallies will get to know it is being shot?and may avoid the course, and they gave him my name and PHONE number I kid you not.

cheers KW

FEO said to me that i could carry a copy...as its easy for the control room to confirm i am a cert holder via radio/tellingbone....and if i was in a different county tell mr policeman to check with cleveland police and they would confirm what i had on ticket....hope this makes sense.

I dont like carrying the originls because as has been said before they get destroyed in your pockets etc.....they are an awful size to fold and will end up like the old driving licenses..dropping to bits !!!
