Lord Geordie
When you scope em look VERY well at their feet as they COULD be racers and as far as i am aware illegal to shoot. Just be VERY aware of what your shooting at :o LG
SNAKEBITE
When you scope em look VERY well at their feet as they COULD be racers and as far as i am aware illegal to shoot. oooops :*) I got a racer one day. I felt a bit bad so rang the owner up and explained without going into details his pigeon had "expired". The owner wasn't at all bothered and was of the opinion that if it couldn't get home it was no good anyway!

Lord Geordie
IF you make a mistake the only option you would have is to sever the foot and remove the ring. i am sure there is a place you can send the rings to let the owners know the pigeons are dead but obv don't tell em you shot it LG

How the hell you're s'posed to tell before you shoot 'em is one of lifes little kicks Needs checking but I heard, a long time ago, that once a racing pigeon lands anywhere other than it's loft it is classed as being feral cos thats what feral means "a domesticated animal that has returned to the wild" or words to that effect. SNAKEBITE
a LOT OF RACERS HAVE THE OWNERS TELEPHONE NUMBER INKED on the inside of the wing feathers. A chap at work who used to race them said he had a few pigeons land in his loft who were other peoples. He rang them saying do they want them returned. They all said no, pull their necks as they were useless if they can't find their way back home. A bit harsh but there you go.
