Deben Swivel (tripod) Seat

Recommended Posts

I bought one of those Deben swivel seats yesterday - looked small, light and worth a try - even if it just ends up being a spare or a mate's seat.

It all collapses up small and quickly expands out to be used. After testing it I then seriously struggled to re-collapse the seat part. Looking around on the web it appears lots of people have had the same issue. I thought it was my weight - which is certainly at the limit of the specified maximum

What you have to do is PULL the legs along their length first. I only worked it out by unscrewing one and taking it off. Easy once you know how - but it confused all of us.

Anybody else that's struggling PM me and I'll tell you how!

Pavman thought it was a HIGH seat cause he's such a big baby (come on baby/high seat keep up  ) and yes he'd break it in no time! Oh I just know I'm gonna get payback for this!

On a more serious note...it always amazes me why a) people buy such low seats to shoot from and B) such cheap crappy stuff that always end up in the bin cause it's broken some which ways.

I'm just over 6'2" and this stool is Ok for me. It has adjustable legs and on it's tallest setting is just the job, particularly when shooting from sitting position as it gives great mobility. I can get up and down fine, but then I am lucky enough to be fairly fit and not have any mobility issues.

It is a stool - not a high seat, to avoid any confusion.

I wouldn't consider this stool to be cheap or poor quality (as per Highlander's usual remarks) - I wouldn't have bothered buying it if it was. It appears quite robust and well made.

My original post was merely to help anybody else stuck due to the lack of instructions on how to collapse the seat part. I did not set out to particularly recommend the seat or enter any daft debate with Highlander.

Careful comments like that have a habit (especially on here) of coming back and biting you in the ****. Let us know if it’s still working in a couple of months! :good:

And daft debate is what goes on on PW does it not

I bought two folding camping chairs with armrests from Tesco on offer for £ 5.00 each, and come in a bag. I´ve had these before and they are very stable, and you can stand up quick from them too. :good:

If I remember when I bought them on the continent they were € 15.99 each from ALDI, and € 29.95 to € 34.95 from camping stores. :hmm:
