peeblesman Posted May 30, 2011 Report Share Posted May 30, 2011 any body got any ideas... driving my m reg 200tdi disco home and the rev counter stopped working and the battery light came on... no loss of power or any other symptom... got home switched off then restarted and the problem had gone so did switched off and restarted a few time just to see... fault re appeared a few times... when the rev counter works the battery light goes out. any body got any ideas ?? many thanks Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Budice Posted May 30, 2011 Report Share Posted May 30, 2011 Check the security of the wiring on the back of the alternator, make sure everything is nice and tight and clean. wouldnt hurt to clean everything up and put a bit of grease or petroleum jelly based stuff around the contacts. rabbiter Posted May 31, 2011 Report Share Posted May 31, 2011 the same was happening to mine mate,1997 300tdi,i checked alternator wiring,all seemed ok till i investigated further,i checked further up the wiring from the alternator,and found there was a break in the white wire,joined it back up,no more problems...
