pop up hides

Recommended Posts

Pop up hides are fine for rifles and when it`s wet and windy but when it comes to shotguns and pigeons they have roofs which restricts swing, follow through and movement in generally, plus you peripheral vision will be pants.

That is all true. But I don't use a Pop-a-Bivvy as an alternative to a conventional hide, but as an additional means of shooting pigeons when you need more cover than a net and poles can give. Examples are in showery weather or in the middle of fields. Last summer I put the green igloo up in the middle of a 53 acre wheat field during a spell of thunderstorms combined with sunshine and had some tremendous sport, and also kept dry.

The way I use it is to put the bivvy with door fully open facing the deeks and have a net draped over the lower part of the doorway. By sitting up close to the door I have enough room to fire through the open part.
