spent wednesday afternoon shooting over the pea's had a fair few birds and now we seam to have got ontop of them. speaking to the farmer about it all i was surprised when he asked how the barley was doing. BARLEY!!! where? turns out he has 300 acres of barley in as well. that will teach me for not looking and getting blinkered by the pea shooting.

20 years from a couple of oaks is a long flattened strip. but no birds on it. the tree how ever were blue. about 300 birds clattering through the branches. but none on the strip. on closer inspection some of the barley head where stripped and a few feathers laying around.

we are going to have a poke at a few but have a few problems.

cant/wont use a dog in standing cereal. especially barley

crop is right up to the hedge with a. even i cant see over the crop when stood in ditch. we have less than a meter between ditch and crop so thats me ******** as i cant stand, i need to sit in chair.

tuesday is the first day where the weather is looking right. 24kph SW cloudy with sunny intervals.

this strip is 5 meter wide and 50 meters long. 20 meters out into the field and running south to north.

so, we either push our luck and see how many times we fall down the ditch or we set up on the trams lines on the south end of the strip.

what will it be?

Phil.
