I went out today for a few hours on some laid barley. Ive watched the fields for most of last week and theres been a good 500-700 pigeons and crows on it. Most of the flat spots are right out in the middle of the fields so i couldnt get to them. In the end i decided to shoot a small laid patch that was about 30 yards from a hedge and in the corner of a field. It had tram lines leading to it so was ideal and ment i didnt damage any of the standing crop getting to it. When i arrived this morning there was very few birds about but i decided to get set up anyway. The birds started coming in steady but wouldnt decoy so i was taking them as they flew over the deeks. I had some nice long shots but most of the birds i picked where shot as they came into the copse behind me and landed in the short grass around the hide. I ended up picking 33 birds and losing 19 in the standing crop.

Cheers

Ben
