Posted my application last Thursday morning. Rang this morning 0900. Coming to my place tomorrow morning at 11.00. They havent even cashed the cheque yet!!

What sort of questions will I have to answer? Told him I have no previous experience with shotgun.

For my job I have to have one of those Criminal checks (?) done anyway. Told him I was having instructions. His words 'Oh well mate, if he (the instructor (Ricky Figg))says your ok. Thats good enough for me!! 'See you in the morning' Terry''

Having my first lesson this evening.

If you have no experience he may ask a few questions - what do you 'Need' the gun for - you know the answers - just so long as you have a valid response like Gameshooting on such and such a place, clay shooting and pest control (pigeons).

He may ask a few round about questions like what ranges might you want to shoot at ? Nothing over 35-40 yds with normal carts. What shot size are you plannning to use for pigeons - '6'.

Dead straight forward and the 'need' question is often all thats asked and a look at the cabinet.

It will go well- no problem.

Good luck

Just had interview. All went well. No funny questions. Said it is usually a 6 week turnround.

Terry

Good news, first time i had them around many years ago he asked if i had ever been in trouble with the police, i said no, he then produced a piece of paper with details of a few Prosecutions on it both for drugs and started asking me about them. I was gob smacked i have never got into drugs. I may of been a bit wild in my younger days, but to forget being done twice for drugs

Turns out he had the wrong bit of paper it was for the bloke he was seeing next :good:

Two hours after the approval my gun cabinet arrived, so out to B&Q for a new drill bit!!

I can actually think about a shotgun now! I know I have to try a few out but been on the internet reading reviews.....at the moment its between Beretta silver pigeon / beretta universal / browning 525 (game)???? Be gentle, I am only learning!!

6 weeks? wow mine took just 4 days :)

So now is a good time to get out, go borrowing and shooting with others. Learn what you like weight and stock wise before thinking of going near a shope with your virgin cert.

We worked it out that it took just 9 working days!! Record?? (unless you know different??).
