raby88
Hey just got back from another evening pigeon shooting. Picked up 32 birds after 3 hours roost shooting. I only started decoying 6 weeks ago and realised what ive been missing! Had 2 bags of 40 -50 and a few less successful days but realy enjoying it. On my new permission there is rape and barley which is going to be harvested soon so looking to hit sum big bags but not sure how to go about setting up a net when there is no cover to set up in front of? Wont the pigeons see through it without a back stop? Any Ideas?

Just build a hide out in the open, you don't need any cover. Just make sure you have enough net to make a hide that will surround you. AndyBaz
Think about camo from above, more important if not back against something.
TJ91
a large fsishing umbrella with plenty of net draped around it will work
activeviii
hessian sacking will do you, i use the stuff the builders use on brick work. put a roof on and lighten up your clothing. in a green field i use a fishing brolly but on harvest you will have a dark hole that will spoke the birds. been there to many times, also gets to hot. if your there all day in the middle of the field you will have to think about shot birds as it gets hot out there and the birds will spoil very fast. Again i use wet hessian to form shade to try and cool the birds off

activeviii
i stand corrected then all the times i have done it i have had birds jinks big time. stand back at the pattern and looking back to the hide i could see a big black eye. changed the hide and all was then well. i only use the brolly on green now. must just be me i guess. motty
Think about camo from above, more important if not back against something. You mean a roof? I've never used one and never had a problem. Edited July 11, 2011 by motty
