Nice afternoon.

I took the afternoon off work to have another go at the pigeons yesterday. Some other shooters were on one of the fields that i'd earmarked as a possible venue, so i went to another reasonable looking spot.

I was set up by 1.30 pm. There was a strong wind blowing and i set up with it in my face. I put a net up in the ditch to hide me a little better. The magnet went to the right of the pattern of 20 flocked shells (couldn't shoot left because of a house) and so it began.

I had estimated i may get between 30 -40 birds in this session - if the rain stayed away.

I started shooting poorly with the o/u but stuck with it. Soon enough, i began taking quite a few left and rights. I used mainly rio 28gm 7 1/2. They were doing the job when i was on target.

I had to be alert as birds came in from behind without warning - some great snap shooting required and a test of the old DTL skills.

I realised after a couple of hours that a 100+ could be on. I already had 50 odd down, which i added to the pattern.

The pigeons were committing so well, even a bloke metal detecting 200 yards to my left didn't put them off.

In the end i smashed past 100 and they still continued to come in.

I lost the foresight bead of the gun after snagging it in the net. I shot better without it.

Some cracking birds were taken and i had a 2 for 1 as well.

I decided to call it a day at 5.30pm. I had seriously underestimated how many pigeons were using this field. Hundreds had congregated at the other end of the field while i was packing up. I may visit this field again at the weekend.

This was my 5th 100+ of the year, but the most satisfying. I shot 125 pigeons.

Here are a few pictures -

Brilliant. Thanks for putting up the pics of your pattern and hide too, much more interesting than just a pic of a pile of dead birds :good:

Left the kill zone full of dead birds. Didn't really have time to move them. Over a hundred birds in the pattern.
