Tony Orchard

Recommended Posts

Yes Tony was associated with Pinewood, but I believe he sold the manufacturing rights to his hide poles to Turner Richards.

Sadly Tony passed away four years ago, but it remains his legacy that many of us still have and use his kit.

I can tell you many a tale about Tony and Pigeon shooting.

A very good field craftsman, he used to amuse me how he always spat after using the word Batley, Tony never did get used to charlatons. Can you remember his Apple floater? His flapper? How many copies of those are there?

He always maintained to me that a flapper used sparingly was deadly, and how true!

I normally just carry shell decoys and a flapper (travel light for mobility) it is amazing how the passing pigeon cannot ignore an occassional flap from a pigeon on the edge of a feeding pattern.
