Shot a vixen at the MILs baited area from the lawn at night with the .17hmr and Pulsar but noticed the next day there had been more activity so took Mac and Rab oot again this time with .243.Got settled down in the Jeep and at 00.45 a fox appeared and started digging. No need for the lamp and nailed at 60 yards.Left it there and 10 minutes later another one arrived, but he was a bit flighty with the other lying close by.He settled down so nailed too about 5 yards from the first.A cub and a big dog.The cub had dug that hole in seconds that you see,and you have to be on the ball and ready. We had mowed an area with the ride on for the baited area so its easy to see any movement in it.

A couple of big bucks with very poor headwear were taking from the usual valley. There for about 11.00 with 4 does with young in sight, but after an hour the first buck appeared.I thought it was the same one i had seen before and he was a steep downhill shot and had to be headed.I went and gralloched and took him back, but after another half hourish a near identical buck appeared, and exactly the same kind of shot but about 50 yards from the first.Unbelievably, both weighed 16kg,healthy but with the same very poor antlers.Very unsure but could they have been brothers,as i rarely get bucks as poor as this.

Do you have any chilling facilities at the MIL's or do you cut them up that night and freeze??? I've have a dilema right now in that i'm struggling to hang anything as I could really do with a drinks fridge or some chill space but i'm wondering if shot at night could they hang in a shed or similar overnight and cut up in morning or the night they've been shot?

Cheers

Most go to the game dealer fella and hanging overnight is no problem and he will usually pick up first thing in the morning. If im butchering ill try and do it straight away even though our weather the now isnt exactly hot.

Magic thanks. I wouldnt mind getting to the game dealer as well but I was always worried about them not being chilled over night and flies ets in in a garden shed or outbuilding etc...I didnt want to shoot anything and then not be able to deal with it after.
