A realistic decoy

I have been meaning to tell you all about an incident I had, about three weeks ago, when I was out pigeon shooting.

It was a classic day. The wind was at my back, the weather was lovely and the spring rape field was just showing. The hide was perfect and pigeons started to come into my horseshoe of shell decoys and they were coming in strong. As I started to get a few I replaced the shells with dead birds.

I was in a bit of a ditch so I had to keep popping my head up now and again to make sure none had sneaked in, out of my view, and landed.

After I had brought all the shells in, and had dead birds out, only, I just sat back enjoying a good days pigeonning.

Then I popped my head up to check the decoys and I could not believe what I saw.

A bird had flown in, out of my sight, and did no more than walked up to a dead bird at the far end of the left hand side of my horseshoe. It jumped on the dead birds back and started have its evil way with it.

I just sat there entranced for what seemed like an age.

Then I made the decision.

Afterwards I just marvelled at the sights you see while out shooting.

Any other stories out there ?

Sniper,

It was obviously a necrophiliac woodie............(not bad spelling...!!!), as many that post can't even spell pidgin...!!

In response to interesting stories, many years ago, I was sharing a hide with my shooting mate early one morning over peas - we had a couple of lofters in a dead tree alongside which stuck out really well, when all of a sudden, BOOM........., down came one of the lofters and the branch he was near - I assumed (wrongly), that my mates gun had gone off by accident, not so - I looked over the nets to see a guy in full cammo gear that had stalked the tree and taken a pot at our lofters..!!!

We were gobsmacked, but believe me, it happened...!!!

Shortly after that we did a deal with the farmer to give us exclusive rights over the farm, and our stalker went elsewhere, fortunately for us...!!!
