Turbo Flapper timer

I read a thread the other day regarding controlling a flapper and though I like the control a remote gives me so I can switch it off as the birds turn in, I liked the idea someone said about using both an intermittent timer and the remote. So you let the timer switch the flapper on and off and just use the remote to switch it off when birds head toward the pattern.

I've seen different types of timers and the one that I think I'm interested in is a £9.95 jobbie which is the micro timer like this:

Anyone used these? Good or bad?

Thanks

I use a UKshootwarehouse one. Adjustable timings :good:

Far better than a remote since you are not distracted, worrying, fiddling etc. Just allows you to focus on the pigeons :good:

but i think what Cosd is thinking is when the intermittnet flaps just as a bird is beginning to commit to pattern and the flap puts it off. with remote, once bird is heading to pattern you turn flapper off altogether so as no chance of the intermittent movemetn scaring it off. i only know as it was myself asking about flappers.

I've heard that before but I am not convinced by it. It has not been a issue for me. I have let birds land (not often!!!) and watched their behaviour when the flapper goes on and off. I think close up birds notice there is something generally wrong with plastic pigeon shells more. IMHO
