XS78

Quite like the idea of shooting something recoilless, and with the modifications available and the aftermarket accsessorys available for the XS/QB type rifles, and the gun at a cheap price, i think i have decided to buy an XS78 which is the .177 model. This is because Allot of people seem to shoot .177 and im keen to jump on the bandwagon and try it out as the .177 i have is more of a plinker.... My question is whats this rifle like accuracy wise? And does anyone have any guides to some mods that are essential? Although i doubt this gun will, i have read about rabbits running after .177 head shots, I know it sounds stupid, but ive only ever shot rabbits with .22 air rifles and RF rifles Does anyone have anyone have any experiences with this rifle in the field, feel free to post some images of your gun if you have a modded XS or QB setup, i know there is allot to be said on these guns and there are other threads on these guns just want some specifics of .177 in that gun, thanks in advance!

A 12 ft/lb .177 is fine for rabbits. Don't believe all you hear.

As for the XS78; it is a fine rifle within its limits. I used one for a while for squirrel shooting and it was ideal; light and easily handled. The only thing with them is that you are likely to need to be tweaked / tuned to get the best from it especially if you choose .177 Log onto the Chinese Airgun Forum for some friendly and sound advice.

I know nothing about your rifle but The •177 pellet will pass clean through a rabbits brain at between 20 to 30 yards my mate uses flat heads at these ranges swears by them very accurate out to 25 yards with a springer on contact they seem to explode the rabbits brain inside it's head he's never seen one run away hope this helps of course it will be testing which pellet your rifle likes in flat head or dome keep away from pointy ones they are not very good Frank

my current 177 is **** just because the breach is cut at an angle so i have tool that pushes the pellet in because otherwise the skirt sticks out a bit - loosing power and effecting accuracy, as a cheap gun its never been as accurate as the higher quality bsa and so i shoot that allot more as its capable of smaller groups and therefore its more fun on the range and im more confident with the bsa shooting animals, im forcing myself to use it more now and i find i could go for some rabbits with it but at range i cannot shoot it as accurately as my bsa, mainly because the stock on the smk cheapo is about two inches to short to get the right eye relief, however i have made an extension it doesnt look great, and also if i was going to hunt with it i would like to put a bigger scope on it because the 32mm lense is a bit "dark" when i am used to shooting through 50mm more often, im sure ill tell you if i can think of any more excuses as to why i dont shoot my XS15! anyway hopefully ill have a bit of fun with the XS 78 and ill have to order in some AAF's by the sounds of it - seem to be the pellet to use on theese forums, always using wasps in my .22's when hunting.
