30-6
A local farmer to me is inundated with jackdaws, and by that i mean hundreds and hundreds (and hundreds), they seem to congregate around the yard in the day, feeding around the farm and the local village, but they roost elsewhere. I've been sitting on a stool leaning against a building with a decoy set up in the first field, and they just come and come. No net or anything, pure pest control. Now i've seen pigeons and rooks trying to settle on the stems of wheat (like sideways on at 90 degrees) in a laid patch looking like acrobats, but yesterday a jackdaw landed on the floater rod which was about 45 degrees in the ground, and was content to stay there for a good 5 minutes. Did i shoot him ?, yes as he flew away.

Dr D
loads round me. In the winter the cattle sheds are full of them dawn to dusk. Could'nt keep up with the cartidges needed, so recently I have taken to using the .22. It's completely different from decoying on the fields. As you say, pure pest control.
