Mixed bag

Had no luck on my pea fields today, despite doing 2 good recces previously. They were around but I couldnt get then to come into my pattern (wide horse-shoe), perhaps I need to invest in a pecker/flapper/rotary? Does anyone make spring-sticks for shell decoys? i.e. sticks with a small coil spring on top, so the decoy nods in the wind? Anyone out there got any thoughts? Packed in at 3pm and went to the only wood I've got access to and got 14 for 20 shots so that made the whole day worthwhile. Good shooting!! Axel

PS; Nearly half the crops were full of florets (tree 'flowers'), no wonder they were leaving the peas alone!

PPS; Thanks for info on 'spring sticks' for shell decoys, found some at fieldsportsupply@aol.com 10 for £9.99 +p&p. Also, 10 for £7.50 + p&p from ##############

Axel,

Normal deeks stick out well on newly sprouting pea fields, and provided that you were in the right place and also well concealed, you should have had a few.

I would always use a rotary to start with, they can make a big difference to your bag.
