Quist
Big chicken cull going on. This is serious and may badly effect next season's shooting. My heart goes out to the poor farmer's who's chickens are getting the chop. I'll bet the compensation wont cover their losses. Only a matter of weeks now before shoots take delivery of chicks. The gamekeepers and guys who run them must be bricking themselves
Mungler
Yes, seriously bad news. Lets hope for the lesser HN strain and quick containment. Mind you, do government agencies do "efficient" in this country?

fiiish1987
more like mad times! i work at dorchester hospital and there was a duck sat in the main entrance ALL DAY!! nobody tryed to even scare it out. people just walked past it! (it was obviously looking for a quack! sorry) If it had been a dog or a rat however, it would have been removed before you could say disestablishmentarianism! Just shows what a mad world we live in when were culling loads of chickens yet the county hospital will not move a duck that may have bf

Quist
H7 has killed 1 vetH5N1 has killed 100`s "Chill Winston" H5N1 isn't particularly dangerous. The virus reproduces too low in the lungs to be ejected in the snotstream of the average sneeze. So its not currently considered highly contactable. The worry is that the H5N1 can easily produce a variant that will reproduce in the upper lungs. Then a busride could be lethal. Its not such a hard job for H7 to mutate that way either. Apart from the breathing route, the virus is also transmitted through the fecal route. If you have exterior poultry feeders and waterers and wild birds land on them, it only takes one infected one to **** in the water to pass the infection on to hundreds. Fortunately for the Shooting industry, most birds are kept inside until they are released into open pens. It is hoped that this latest outbreak will be contained and eliminated before this year's birds are released outside. Moderator, why is the word **** starred out in my previous post? We're all big grown up people and its a good descriptive noun in a technical, non-abusive piece. I suppose I'd better try cack, ****, pat, pancake, cowpat, dropping, faeces, do-do's, pooh, poo and see which of those work for next time. Twice the value of all his livestock and £18 per hour plus expenses per man to clean his farm up! :o :o :o
Quist
I've been told that the reason why the word **** wont appear is due to a forum policy of no foul language. I thing whoever put the word in the naughty list, didn't realise that it is common fowl language
