huffhuff
Hi guys, SWMBO took the shogun into London last week. You may remember my plea for somebody local with a tyre pump?!? Basically, for some reason - she thought the 6'2" shogun would fit in the 5'10" carpark! The results on who won the fight are below, do we think it's a write-off? The car park! Notice the HUGE big sign with height limit! The roof! Not dented, mainly scuffed - but down to the bare metal The door! ###. You can see the crumple zone at bottom of window. Answers on a postcard please! Edited August 16, 2011 by huffhuff
al4x
pictures are iffy but if its pulled the hinges etc then it could well be, its a hard area to repair and on an oldish vehicle they usually don't want to be bothered. Of course if you don't claim and apply a hammer and a new boot then it is an option the landy boys would do
huffhuff
I'm not sure why they are sideways, they were taken portrait and when I open them they are right. Weird! The door works fine, nothing wrong with hinges at all. I am tempted to try and man-handle it back the other way...but in fear of glass popping! Plus I would then still have crumples! Grrr

al4x
if its just the door then a second hand one should be fine, damage to the roof fine wet and dry paper and spray it with an aerosol no one will know
Cosd
It's very lucky the rear screen didn't shatter! Pictures are iffy but looks to me you need a new tailgate, I wouldn't attempt to straighten yourself as you may not be so lucky second time around and the screen could easily shatter. The tailgate has been caught at the top and bent backwards (away from the car) and you can see the crease at the bottom of the screen on the tailgate pillar; My guess is it look the same the other side. This is not repairable as structurally the post can not be corrected. Sorry to bear the bad news. I would say to look for a second hand tailgate in the same colour, silver should be easy to find, and you could trade your one in as the screen and trims would have some value. If your handy you can do the change over yourself, but if not I have friends in the trade, Barnet being the closest to you, whom I could recommend to look after you. Let me know if you need any help regarding the fitting, but you would have to source the tailgate. Edited August 16, 2011 by Cosd
leeds chimp
well thoses extra 3 inches made the differance to the lady... actually feel sorry for you as when I had a tiny bump in the SWMBO car all I get is earache about it .... and in her defence I prob would not have thought about the height issue Edited August 16, 2011 by leeds chimp
huffhuff
Result, just rang a breakers selling one on flea bay. Silver, same model - £100 cash. Going in to London later anyway and it's only 7 miles away from where i'll be (although it's in Tottenham). Super duper. I've changed over 2 tailgates before so shouldn't be a problem. So now just need to sort out the cosmetics on the roof! Ta very much guys
JR1960
difficult to tell but I assume it caught the top of the back door? If so did it bend the roof mounts, the hinges or just the door? If its just the door/hinges get a s/h one (sprayed if necessary) and fit it, you aren't going to straighten that door, not to the stage where it will look anything.
