rtaylor
I've just bought a parker hale cleaning rod for my .243 (the one with a red handle). However it has a male thread on the end and so do my brushes and jag. My question, which is the normal thread? Do the brushes normally have a male thread and the rod female, like my shotgun ones? I'm just wondering whether to take the rod back or get new brushes/jags. Cheers
cockercas
I had the same problem. Found one in .22 that fitted but couldn't find one in .243. I just use a normal fitting .243 brush and push it down with the rod
Dekers
What is normal today, different manufacturers make their own choices. You obviously just have to use brushes/jags etc that match the rod. As it happens my Dewey 17 Rod is female, so is the shotgun, but all my other rods are male! mosa
same as mine i have 2 and also need some female ones for my .243 if you get anywhere with it let me know cheers
rtaylor
So what rod do you use as it looks like the brushes/jags have a male end, the pictures are normally too **** to see what thread is on the rods. What a ball ache, you would think they would all fit each other. I might look into drilling out and re-tapping the thread on the rod. apache
Easiest thing would be a female to female adaptor http://www.midwayuk.com/apps/ebrowse.exe/browse?categoryid=15846&categorystring=655+***+20763+***+8872+***

Flippen ek, it isn't exactly rocket science, if you have a male rod get female attachments and vice versa! Brushes/jags etc cost £2-£3 (ish) usually, all this talk about tapping seems a bit OTT!
