BigBeater
Sell whole pigeon as shot to two different restaurants. 50p per bird to one and £1 per bird to the other - on the menus as salads and terrine at £6ish they are selling well apparently. It covers costs!

Salopian
I had a word last night with a chap who has bought pigeons off me for years. He buys them and then sells them to a Gamedealer. He offered me 15p a pigeon!!! Guess I will be eating a lot of pigeon rather than waste diesel delivering for that price

Jim Sarakun
Here is some interesting infrastructure, developed over the years. The Pigeons we shoot go to Belgium. They are collected by a Game Dealer who lives in Bedfordshire. He has a route that encompasses the counties from Bedford to the docks, though for the life of me, I can not remember which docks he takes them to, though suspect that it must be Felixstowe or that area. They are collected at the docks, by a Belgian Game Dealer, who comes from Hague, and crosses the channel to meet our guy. Our guy must have with him, 9000 birds or more in his van, for the Belgian to collect, though this varies if he has a few Deer or Boar in his van and could be a bit less in this event. The cost of fuel has hit this type of trade quite hard, resulting in the investment in another freezer and fridge by the guy who collects the birds for the estate we shoot, and from other guns local to us, because the Game Dealers keep increasing the amount of game they will come out for and their vans keep getting bigger. The Bedford guy collects about once a month from us. All Pigeons because we keep the Venison, yum yum. He will not take any green, shot to bits, maggoty or suspect birds. They don't have to be turned out groomed and in an Armani suit though, and can be headless with wings and legs missing, the criteria seems to be that the breasts are good and they don't stink. He takes fresh and frozen, squeakers are a favourite, apparently a delicacy in Belgium, and pays 25p a bird when there are plenty shot, this time of year, and 30p a bird in winter. It's been like that for years. So if you live between Bedford and probably Felixstowe, shoot quite a few birds and don't put them straight into the sack once shot, but let them cool down first, (like cover them with a wet sack, which also keeps the blow flies off) then grade them when you get home and put them in a fridge if the Dealer is about to collect, or a freezer if he isn't, and want a nice man to collect them, who will show you a van full of game when he arrives, and probably sell you some, then pay you some cartridge money, pm me in a weeks time, because I have to ask him if he wants any more first, and I will give you his number. The things we do in the line of pest control eh? This 'aint sport, just regular country life if you ask me..
