Reloading 28 bore

Recommended Posts

Ok I've fallen in love my 28 bore, but the cartridges are expensive I favour Hull Clay and Game for walking around and clays.

So what do I need to buy as a crow to reloading and where from at good prices second hand preferred to make my own Clay and Game.

if you intend to shoot alot, reload.

seriously you will make better shells, and not have to pay the seriously depleating prices especially for the light 28gauge.

i reload 12gauge for fun. i use virgin components, including the hulls.

i would seriously recomend the mec 600JR, even though i have just upgraded to a sizemaster. it just resizes slightly different.

the components are available in fibre and plaswad. although i seriousley recomend getting some virgin components for a load, just to reload to see if you like to do it.

as for loads, loads vary from 5/8oz to 3/4oz, pick one you like, and just change the shotsize. or the 5/8oz for clay, and #6-5 3/4oz for game.

powders to look at would be...

tecna,

at 0.9grams per cartridge would be cheap, even though the powder is expensive, you are using very little.

thats for a 21gram load, so would be very suitable as a go-alone powder...

I use a MEC 600JR. 14.3gr of Longshot; 3/4 oz 8.5 shot with Winchester AA hulls, primers and wad. An excellent skeet round.

longshot is expensive here. we have our own set of powders that are cheaper...

but dont know if they are better.
