I shot at Wylye today, with my lady..... Great shooting ground, and the cakes are famous. My wife would love to do this, as she needs a bit of sporting coaching, can't make this one, but another time coach

We went in May, I'm told that you just need to avoid the hurricane season. May have to google that though:)

We did the Paradisus Rio D'Oro earlier this year, and I must say it was stunning. Adults only, all inclusive, fabulous beach with scuba diving and fish within 30 metres. Food was excellent as was the weather. Highly recommended if you want a beach/lazy holiday.

The English Skeet Club is based at Dartford, really friendly bunch, and registered skeet is a good place to start. It will also improve your sporting. Give them a google

Well done Jon - just going to peek in time for the British Open next week -
Went broke on Full Tilt a week ago, just my affiliate bonus in there. Now, was that lucky or unlucky

A small take down cabinet screwed to the floor should do the job, especially if you can put it in a wardrobe out of sight.

Gibraltor Barracks definitely the best bet. Nice little sporting ground on the military camp. You have to sign in at the gate, and it's about £15.00 for 70 birds. I work in Hook, so from there, take the A30 towards London and turn right just after Blackbushe Airport, left at the roundabout and the camp is a few hundred yards on the left. Cheers - Bob

Hey Jon I went and bought another gun after you left Bisley today, this Olympic Trap lark is fun. So I'm going to be in the market for a bigger cabinet too, thought about the JFC 7/9 gun version. Maybe we could get a deal if we bought two at the same time? See you for the skeet at Bisley tomorrow. Bob

Thanks for the clarification guys, maybe I won't try that method then.

I know of a number of people who have done it this way: 1. Get a dealer to sell the gun to a US citizen (he can't sell it direct to you) 2. US citizen sells the gun to you and fills in your certificate 3. Declare at the US airport, apparently no problem if the gun is accompanied. You need an export license to post it, but carrying with you is allowed. 4. Declare as secondhand at UK customs, and pay duty vat etc. 5. Job done. A few people in the skeet community do this every year, and I have thought about doing it myself. I've not heard of anyone having a problem, but that doesn't mean to say that it is entirely risk free. I looked long and hard at doing it through a courier with all the paperwork, and unles the dollar gets significantly weaker, then it's not worth it. I have tried (in vain) to get full clarification from the ATF. The rules seem to be contradictory according to which agency you talk to. The US customs don't seem to require any paperwork at all if you are taking a sporting shotgun out of the country.
