lordofthewings
advice please, The front tyres on my car are more worn than the rear ones, so I want to swap them around. do I need to have them all re-balanced, the original leads are still in place. 4eyes
No. Balancing is of the wheel, so it does not matter what axel it's on. Other than checking that both front and back are the same size you should be OK. Also make sure that when you do the swap you swap offside front to back and vice versa, and near side front to back, and vice versa so that you keep the rotations the correct way. Ricko
In the old days wheels were balanced on the car and moving them could make a difference, these days they are balanced independently. As previous post, most tyres these days have a direction of rotation on them, so front left to rear left, front right to rear right. (This goes against the old swapping diagrams in old car maintenance books)
