The disc on a system 2 fly reel of mine is badly worn, but where can I get a replacement part. Can someone on the forum point me in the right direction, any help will be appreciated. Thank you LOTW.

B James of Rugby made the "avon" and "kennet perfection", rods and they are the only rods that I have ever heard become worthwhile collector items, With most rods, thosands were made, then stored away when the next generation came along. About the only things with any sort of value are early experimental reels and those items of end tackle that are usually lost, ie plugs,spinners, kynochs,etc.LOTW

It,s at least twenty y ears since I owned a bitch, and then when she came into season I would give her the veterinary version of an amplex tablet. I found them to be very safe, I had taken her out beating and never had a dog come near her. Now my son has a little bitch and I told him about the tablets so he looked for them on the internet without success, it would appear they are no longer available, I just wondered why. I can remember they were advertized on TV as a means of disguising bad breath. Any thoughts? LOTW

I think that fisheries and anglers can forget about any assistance on the improvement of waters as long as other agencies maintain their positions. The biggest stumbling block is of course the r s p b. Their policies do not include respect for anyone else,s opinions or ambitions. I do,nt really comprehend all that this involves, but I do know that banks employ large and very expensive legal teams, and I would be surprised if anything "iffy", is done without being run past them. Went to our local branch of a national D I Y store to buy some Ronseal diamondhard floor varnish {it,s very very good}. I only wanted a small tin as it was for our hall floor which is not at all a large area. Anyhow a 750gm tin was £23 98 equating to £31 a litre, on the shelf below was a 4.5ltr tin for £44 98 equating to £12 a litre. I,m sure that there are good reasons for discrepanses between sizes and prices, but I can,t think of anything with such a huge differance, can you? LOTW.

I would be influenced by the wind strength, if it is quite strong the birds stay low and I would stick to one line. It is worth remembering the when the birds are ganged up (as they usually this time of year ), they have a great tendency to follow wings, and the stronger the line the greater the urge to follow it. Occationally small is best. Good luck whatever you decide. PS If you do,nt have a white landrover try using sheets of newspaper on bits of stick, upside is that it is biodegradeable, if you do,nt pick it up it just rots. LOTW

My son has been looking to buy a springer pup, the people selling it are adament that they will not dock the tail. As he intends to wait untill the pup is 12 weeks before collecting it he wants to know when is the latest he should consider docking the tail, Your comments would be appreciated LOTW

There is usually a connection put to fly fishig and game fish, but if you want really cheap fly fishing get yourself a small fly rod, 7 or 8ft, nice and handy with a cheap matched weight line. every time you go coarse fishing ( especially on a river) make up the rod, roach,rudd, dace and chubb will all take a fly . On pits, when rudd are dappling the surface a little gold Wichams Fancy. Believe me, you can great fun. As far as rods are concerned, there are millions of them lying in cupboards throughout the country, try some of the fishing forums, I,m sure you will be innundated with information. Enjoyable fly fishing does not need to mean great expence. LOTW
