welsh1
Well sunday night and no "school" the next day,big brother on tv,only one thing to do,grab the rifle and get out. I went to the golf course hoping to get a fox that has been digging into the sides of a green, but i have never seen one near there so was happy to settle for a couple of rabbits. Got to the golf course and got kitted up,as i tested the nv down one of the lanes that has a marker 70 yds away and adjusted the nv,who trots by but mr fox ,so i get about 10yds closer so i can see him through the trees and there he is scratching the green bank,i gave a little squeak and he walked off the green, and then sat there looking straight at me,a second later the culprit was dealt with, the groundsman will be happy. Now what to do with the next couple of hours,i went to one of the fairways that seems to have a bit of a bunny problem, and switched on the nv :o i counted 23 rabbits, had a nice breeze in my face, and decided to clear as much as i could,no nice head shots, but pest control, got 3 together before they all became skittish, but they kept popping out, ended up shooting 12 i kept 4 that had been head shot for the freezer and the neighbour, and the rest were dumped by a badger set. And to finish the evening off,i had a quick scout round the chicken farm, saw at least 5 foxes, but the one that has been giving me the run around, decided to do it again,he ran off in one direction, but i knew where he would end up,so i went straight down the field and focussed on a large pile of boulders with shale on them, with a drop the other side to a small gully, and after a minute there he was, as he got to the top,a loud OY and he turned to look,i dropped him on the spot,i left him there and phoned the estate manager this morning,to remove it,those boulders are a leg break waiting to happen in the dark so no photo,,i then played "follow me round the field just out of range" with another fox but never got a safe chance for a shot, and called it a day, better than a night in watching BB Edited August 29, 2011 by welsh1
