Colster
All PMR's are much the same really, I've had a few and whilst they do vary a little in range from one set to another I wouldn't ever consider spending £100 on them. Of the ones I've had, I'd say the Binatone Action ones seem about as good as they get. To get more range you need really to be looking at a licensed set. Having said that I bought some PMR's in Aldi a while back for £20 and they do all I need (up to about 1/4 mile over flat land seems to work fine)
M.I.A
I have a set of ICOM PMR radios and there great, you may find a set on ebay for under £100 I have had these for a few years now and there great, they have the best range of any PMR i have ever used. Alycidon
Dont know what the price is but Motorola is the way to go. When I used their gear professionally I has sets last over 20 years in daily use. A
-Mongrel-
I use the Kenwood ones for bike-to-bike comms, work well up to 1/2 a mile and then variably over more distance (terrain dependant).
Chris Bb
Dont know what the price is but Motorola is the way to go. When I used their gear professionally I has sets last over 20 years in daily use. A I think that they used to be good but are now relying solely on their reputation. We have Motorola digital hand helds at work and they have to be the worst that any of us have ever used. Very expensive and reception unreliable. The company would have been better off going to Argos!
Vinny v
+1 for the Binatone. can't remember the model number but cost under £40 with a range of 5 miles ( not km). run on rechargable aa batts with base recharger.
