elegia
Hi All, I wonder if anyone can help. I've just bought my first shotgun: a Rizzini O/U, fixed chokes with 2 sets of barrels 26" (skeet) & 30" (full & 3/4). Seems like a really nice wee gun, did a "try before you buy" and was shooting well with it (26"), then at the week-end went out with the 30" and had a shot a a few geese. All working nicely - as it should. Hence; pull the trigger, BANG, pull the trigger, BANG. --- sorry for the rather drawn out obvious descriptions, I'm new to the game and just describing the story so far!! Anyway, a mate of mine points out that it has a selectable trigger ("oh that's interesting" I think, "I'll need to have a wee go of that!" - you can see where this is leading!). I've just received through the post a pair of Bisley Snapcaps, so this is ideal to see how the selective trigger works. I pop them in, move the safety catch to "safe", to allow me to push the catch over, pull the trigger, CLICK, "great - it works then", pull again - NOTHING. "Hmm, ok maybe that what happens", move the safety back to "safe", push over into the original position (to fire bottom barrel first). .....Now this is what happens, the gun will "fire" when I pull the trigger the first time, but in order to "fire" the second shot I have to put the safety on, then off again. Just to clarify (and I realise I talk a lot!), both barrels will fire, but to fire the second shot I need to push the safety up (on), whereby I hear a small click, then off and the gun will then fire the second shot. This is not as it worked before and has only become the case after I moved the barrel/ trigger selection. Although second-hand the gun is in a very new condition (hardly used), so: have I ballsed up somewhere (I can't see that I have)?, does this work like some kind of car windscreen wiper control (the type that drive me nuts - with 2 movements up and 1 down to get it to work)? should I take it back to the RFD, and complain?, or is it a trip to the gunsmiths? (and will that be expensive?, if so it's back to the RFD!!). Any help greatfully appreciated. Thanks for reading!!!

XD2
After you fire the first try hitting the but on the floor (to simulate recoil) then it should fire the second. That is what I did with mine to test the selective trigger in the house. I used snap caps with no problems. David
Norrie
Hiya, I have an E.Rizzini O/U as well, and tho not sure...from memory mine fires both barrels fine with snap caps in it...I shoot on a farm in Twechar,...when you down that way again ??...I'm just along the road in Banknock, and we can compare guns if you want... dave1419
nothing to worry about, just put the snap caps in the bin after you try this-snap caps in gun, fire which ever barrel you want, then tap the butt of the gun on the floor and the second barrel should fire,it all works on inertia.hope this helps---- Dave
Imperfection
When you fire the first barrel the inertia from recoil switches mechanism to second barrel-which can then be fired.Using snap catches wont replicate recoil. One way to do this is tap the butt on the ground (not too hard incase you damage the stock) which will then switch to second barrel.
-Mongrel-
...or as you've already found out, cycling the safety on and off will also reset the mechanism. Same in my Bettinsoli.
elegia
Blimey guys -- that was a fast set of responses, sounds like all is ok -- yabeauty!!! That's made me wipe the sweat from my brow. I'll get some real cartridges through the gun just to check and cure my paranoia!! I'm very grateful to you all. Cheers EDIT: I've checked giving the butt a wee knock after the first fire - and yep, all's working as it should do - thanks again. Sounds good mate, I'm in Twechar most of the time that's where my house is (I work in A'foyle and stay there sometimes). I'm keen as mustard to get out and do more shooting, so if there is any room for a spare gun, count me in! I'd be delighted to compare guns - to be fair I'd be happy to compare pints as well is you fancy a blether and a beer!!!
