bothbarrels
My 11yr old lab is starting to slow down and is suffering from a little arthritus so to be fair on her I am thinking of getting another dog, so she can enjoy her retirement. The type of shooting I do Is mainly walked up game,& pigeon decoying,. But this season I intend to join a wildfowling club which eventually I'd like to introduce my new dog to. My question is, what would in your opinion would be the best all rounder? I'm torn between a lab and a springer, or does anyone favour another breed that would be better suited to my needs? BB. .philmypower.
It's personal preference really I have two springers and would never get a different type of dog, great all rounder and great family pet too.
Spaniel
If the Lab as been fine for the type of shooting you have done up to now, then I would go for a Lab.
Greenhunter
I would have thought, not that I have any experience mind, that a Lab should be more capable of retrieving a wet goose than a Springer would. Easier to train too, again, JMO. GH
