blade
I have the same gun and leave 1/4 and 1/2 choke all the time will do all the things you ask with them chokes As for steel proof the sp on the gun could mean steel proof or look for a fleur de leys patten on the barrels
HDAV
Look for the FLeur de lys proof mark for high performance steel shot. http://www.ssaa.org.au/stories/shotguns-a-beginners-guide-to-shotgun-chokes.html scroll down to the table at the bottom which has a decent table for chokes but your probably fine with what have in already 3/4 bottom and 1/2 in the top best to get on the clays with it and try the combos out on some likely birds. True choke is the pattern you get with a certain cartridge not the constriction.

Canis
Hi blade Which ones are the 1/4 and 1/2 tho?? Plus mod?? Or imp mod?? I'm lost with all the names of them lol Thanks again from what you write in your first post it sounds like you have quarter and half chokes in the gun - Japanese made Brownings like yours use "invector" chokes that are about 4cm long or "invector plus" which are about 7 cm long. I didn't think invector plus where used until the 425 came out( but i could be wrong!) but the size will make it readilly apparent if they are indeed "invector plus" - thats the only reason that i could think of for "plus" being on your chokes Cylinder is cylinder or skeet choke choke Improved cylinder is quarter choke mod(ified) is half choke Improved Mod(ified) is 3/4 choke Full is Full choke . ignore the reference to steel full on the second modified choke you have - this is because if you use steel shot you must use only half choke or less, but when doing so a half choke makes the steel pattern similar to the pattern you get when you fire lead with full choke. HDAV
Cylinder is cyl (true cylinder 0.000" constriction) Skeet is Sk or 0.004/5" constriction Improved cylinder is 1/4 or 0.010 constriction Wait till you get to 3/8 and 5/8 chokes and super full!   http://www.chuckhawks.com/shotgun_chokes.htm Cylinder .000 in - Skeet .005 in - Improved Cylinder .010 in - Light Modified .015 in - Modified .020 in - Improved Modified .025 in - Light Full choke .030 in - Full choke .035 in - Extra Full choke .040 in - Its all nonsense really and the only way to tell is to pattern the gun with shells you are using, many say with modern shells and guns 1/2 is as tight as you need..... Archie-fox
is it simpler with the little cuts in the top of the chokes?? i.e one choke has 1 nick and another choke has 2 nicks and another has 3 and so on...? thanks rich
Spaniel
to be honest I only ever use 1/4 4 notches or 1/2 3 notches chokes, the rest stay in the box Steel I only use 1/4 but on the Beretta you can use steel through the IC 5 notches, quarter and half chokes
Archie-fox
thanks spaniel i was getting totally lost with the different names for the same chokes, but the notches makes it so much more simple..thanks again rich
