kermitpwee
A stupid question considering I have just bought one! I have a 1998 Terios plus that came in from England. It has a differential lock button on the dash. It is an automatic. I am just wondering is it permanently in 4 wheel drive and you can also select the diff lock or is it in 2 wheel drive normally and selecting the diff lock is your 4 wheel drive? I thought it was the latter but from what I have seen on google they are supposed to be a permanent 4 wheel drive system. Any info would be greatly appreciated. rallyrus
Hi mate, Bought the wife one of these for use in the snow last winter, it was a manual not a auto so not sure if the same or not? It was front wheel drive, flick the switch on the dash and it went into four wheel drive, so selectable 2wd or 4wd. Would of thought the auto's would be the same? drut
As above, normally 2wd(front) drive, button on dash 4wd.Original blurb/tests seemed to suggest permanent 4wd but not so.Missus has had one from new(2002),surprisingly capable for what they are,I find it great for my shooting needs although a low box would be great for more serious stuff. CZ550Kevlar
I have a V reg Terios and it is permanent 4 wheel drive, you just bring it to a stop, leave it in neutral and flick the switch which locks the diff and off you go, when you want to take it off just stop and do the same again. kermitpwee
Right lads I had a better look now that I have had it a few days. It is 2 wheel drive with a button for 4 wheel drive on the dash rather than a diff lock. It is rear wheel drive rather than the front wheel drive that some posters have pointed to. Thanks

Thanks" Wonder why ours can spin the front wheels away from junctions I thought it was rear as I was down a mud track in 2wd and it was kicking out the rear like my old Jimny so I assumed it was rear wd then mate, maybe it was my imagination. When I am on the road it does feel like front wheel drive.
