Redditch
Hi all I need some help I was given an old pigeon magnet with 4 arms i tried to run it with dead birds and only 2 arms but it kept falling over what can I do to sort this Thanks It should have a base with three spikes, and this should be pushed all the way into the ground (Centre spike plus three spikes untill it comes up against the stop). If this spiked base is missing then it will need replacing or it´ll just keep falling over. If the spikes are in order and it falls over, it normally means you´re not pushing it in deep enough (Push so all spike are right into the ground upto the stop plates)

Does 4 arms work or should I stick to only
motty
Thanks for the help I think I just needed to get it deeper in the ground. Does 4 arms work or should I stick to only 2 Two arms should do the trick, although there is no harm giving four a go. Experiment.
Cranfield
I saw a four arm rotary running about a year ago and it looked quite weird. It might have been shop bought, or homemade, but it looked like the perfect bird scarer. The four arms were the same length as the usual two arm models and this made the whole thing look very frantic (and unstable). I can imagine if the arms were much longer ( keeping the decoys at a reasonable distance ) , it might be a better picture.

On the four arm models you definately need a speed controller
Redditch
Another idea would be to have two decoys running at normal extension, and the other two at maximúm (Or even extended a bit extension), so that it doesn´t look as if they are chasing each other

Redditch
I have a four arm rotary too, some days I´ll just use only two, other days I´ll use all four, depends how the birds are reacting to it, but I do have a speed controller on it, and a very powerfull battery too, plus a long cable so the battery and controller can be placed in the hide.
