whats your thoughts on this

with the lastest spate of ill and dying dogs supposedly caused by blue/green algae, why arent DEFRA or other veternary orgs trying to find the cause

There was a bit on Countryfile this week did you see it? A chap on there said his dog died very quickly after swimming through the stuff does not sound very nice thats for sure................

the cause could be something as simple as an area of river/lake bed silt being disturbed.....once it blooms it spreads like wild fire !!

prymnesium (spelling ?) is what its called....and to be honest....i dont think defra....natural england....the ea or anyone else for that matter knows really much about it. :hmm: lots of research gone on in texas, sweden and israel ....but thats it as far as i know...and still no real way to combat it once it takes hold. this stuff destroyed fishing on the broads twice...once in the 60`s and again...albeit a smaller outbreak..in the 80`s. both very well documented.
