camokid
hi lads had a call from the keeper wednesday asking me to pop over and sit out for a fox. he had a shoot on that day and came across seven birds with no heads near the cover ! so he was a bit peed. i sat there from 6 till 9 just in range of the cover in a good spot with a good view of the land, but nothing showed. 9.30 came and knowing it was a good 20 min walk to the car with a 30 min drive home on a work night i thought i would call it a day. on return to the car i was having a shine every 100 yards, oh then bingo i spotted a fox in the field about 120 i dropped to the floor took the shot and had the culprit in the bag. a nice big dog fox top conditon good weight and looked very much like a bird muncher.lol next one was on friday night, the farm that he was on is a bit slow at times but has been good in the past couple of years with some nice muntys taken and a few foxes too. i parked up in the field and took to foot as i always do, i was heading to a steep hill where you can get some good shots. i was only there a hour or so and spotted him next to my car i had to wait a min to shoot him as my car would have become the backstop. hes was a fair sized dog hit 4 foot from the car
buckaroo23
nice foxes, how manu foxes have u had this year do u find the amber fliter works beta than a red one?
camokid
you will find with the amber you have a lot more light passing through the lens so you get a longer/brighter beam you will see the fox better at distance but in the same breath the red is less harsh a beam to be pointing at a weiry target. my brother has a few but i personaly tend to take around 40, 36 up to now but most of my land is crops so in the summer months i dont do as good as others because i cant see the devils to shoot them. camokid
Nice shooting Andy , another happy farmer , might give an amber filter a go you seem to have good results with them its worth a try you do get a better view . my thoughts where when ever your out all thats around are amber street lights so they might be a little less put of to see the lamp in that colour. If you want any advice, just ask.
