Immigration

I was seriously considering immigration after I finished university. Hopefully, if all goes well, Ill be leaving with a BSc Hons in Building Surveying at the start of next year. I was considering going to America. Having done abit of research, the American immigration law looks pretty complex and I dont think it is particulary easy to enter because its a preference system and not a points system (like Canada, Australia & NZ). UK subjects are not illegible for the greencard lottery either. So if I have an ordinary degree I believe that this would put me in the third preference group.

Was wondering if anyone has any advice for me on this subject, if anyone has immigrated there would like to hear from them.

I know that if you have close family out there it makes it alot easier but I dont. For a permanent visa you need to also have a job offer from a company and they have to prove that no American can do the job that they have offered you.

Thats abit shocking. When you consider that about a million Mexicans go into America every year or something ridiculous like that you would think that they would be desperate for legal aliens.

edit- I have read if you fall into group C (unskilled worker) in the third preference group then its normal for the application process to take upto 10 - 12 years. :good:

getting into america is very tough.. and its hard to believe but as tough as me when i got into brittian..

however...... the points system in america is very tough... as you noticed.. a normal degree .. expecially in law is not gonna cut it... sad to say.

however.. easier way... join Camp america... seriously. its how i met my wife.

whilst you are there ... you can find places to help and sponcer you.. if you get a visa to work.. for the camp ... the american authorities will be more likely to accept further stay etc.

good luck.. ps i got lucky comming here.. but thats another story for another day.

Not really interested in NZ to be honest.

I could get into Canada if I were to learn French because I'm just 6 points short of the minimum but if I were to secure a job then wouldnt need to. So Canada is the sure thing to put it that way between the others.

Australia for some reason I'm 10 points short of the minimum but probably could be improved apon.

America seems to be the tough one. Not sure whether I would get in or not because of the weird system they have.

What is camp america? Some exchange program?

I'm not usually picky about these sorts of things, but you never know it might be decided on a grammatical error...anyway, immigration is when someone moves into your domestic country, emigration is when someone moves out of it. So if and when you move to US/CAN you will be emigrating there, and dealing with their immigration policy.

Only mention it because it might be put on forms and stuff, might not look too good if you get it the wrong way round.

camp america is a programme.. in which you sign up.. details usually in the job centre... then get transfered to a summer camp in the usa... they will place you and it ususally a great time.. if you dont mind kids

you will get a visa and you get paid for working at the camp as well..... all expenses are covered...

do a search on the interenet.... or contact your job centre.. they will tell you about these programmes...

I loved it...
