otherwayup
I'm looking for a cheap second hand semi and was going to go for an Escort. However, I know someone selling a brand new 3.5" one for a good price because it is the "old" model and has been hanging around for a 1yr plus. This got me wondering what changes have been made to Escorts and when etc. and if there are any versions definitely to go for or not (as the case may be). Does anyone know, or know of a website that explains? Thanks.
Sx3 clay breaker
I think the older models suffers from jams but they sorted this out if you got about £400 to spend I would hugely recommend a Winchester sx3 shot about 200 24 grams then about 180 28 grams without cleaning and only had one fail to feed right at the end brilliant guns and I love mine it's the 3/1/2 magnum in mossy oak but it's whatever fits you atvb sx3
Simon123
Well it should have the loading gate relese button on the side bud i dont think that if the gun is only 1 yr old it wont be like this. It may be that it has a fast loading gate but does'nt doesnt have a the new smart valve piston ;) Either way, try the gun out before you buy it, to see if it cycles catridges fine, but theres nothing wrong with the one which has the loading gate relese button on the side which just need's time to get used to it, to be quick loading it :good: I think the older models suffers from jams but they sorted this out if you got about £400 to spend I would hugely recommend a Winchester sx3 shot about 200 24 grams then about 180 28 grams without cleaning and only had one fail to feed right at the end brilliant guns and I love mine it's the 3/1/2 magnum in mossy oak but it's whatever fits you atvb sx3 You'r obviously not talking from experience when talking about the Hatsan, but from hates of Hatsans which have never owned a hatsan saying that their **** an jam all the time, mine works faultlesslym, and absolutely great value for money. You'd never get a tidy well conditioned Winchester SX3 for £400 mate, but have to agree with you that they are an amazing gun and well worth the money asked for them Edited October 28, 2011 by Simon123

steve_b_wales
My FAC Escort is the 'older' type model, where you have to press a button on the side of the receiver to release the loading gate. It's a slight nuisance, but I don't mind. As long as you keep the Escort clean after use (as with most semi's) you should not get any jams. I would advise using 70mm cartridges though, as the 65mm have been known to jam a few times. Steve.
adymorris
What Steve_b said keep em clean they work fine, I've got the original one, no jamming issues until I fitted the FAC kit to it and now it likes 32g only, this is simply down to the spring in the mag tube and is easily rectified with a slightly stronger spring - I can't be ***** so I just uses 32g carts in it and it works fine
bicykillgaz
hi, as far as i know there is three models, the first has a solid rubber recoil pad and the button on the side, the second has the new honeycomb style recoil pad with the stock adjusters and the newest version doesn't have the button on the side. i've had 2 of the second style, still got one of them and can't fault it, i heard the 3.5" won't cycle anything less than 32g as they are obviously designed for the larger loads and longer length cartridges maybe someone can confirm or disprove this as i only know what i've been told. atb gary
