Silenced shotties seem to be getting more popular, I too would like to know how quiet they are.

I have used the Warreners silenced over/under 20 bore shotgun and that is really quiet. My mate was shooting with it on the other side of a drystone wall and i could hardly tell when he had a shot. It was awkward getting used to shooting with a silenced shotgun as the silencer is much larger than the barrel but once you get used to it they are deadly. :welcomeani:

depends what gauge

ive fired both silenced 20's and 410's but never a 12

the 20 was a reasonably loud woosh-clap noise (this was with supersonics)

the 410 was a sort of loud sneeze (again with supersonics)

the 410's with the silencers handle supprisingly well, you dont really feel the weight as they actual silencers dont weigh that much. the 20b i tried was a single barrel baikal actioned hushpower this again handled supprisingly well, but then it did only have one barrel.

the trigger on this 20b was dire, the 410 serves no real purpose other than shooting short range vermin.

they are in my opinion a bit of a fad. People buy them and then own them for 2years realise they are just collecting dust in the safe and then flog them on here. (just look at the number being sold 2nd hand)

having been lucky enough to try without owning, i wont be buying one, i will use a rimfire for ground vermin and a proper shotgun with enough lead to do the job for the stuff in the air.
