Pulsar N550

I know night vision scopes have been done to death as a topic, but I still need to know whether this scope is my best option for rabbit shooting on my .22lr.

In a recent thread on this subject a couple of people said the Pulsar was **** and over-priced. I asked why but the subject moved on and I never found out.

I want to use my .22 as a dedicated night shooter. I don't like the idea of an ocular add-on that gaves you a crick in the neck, but I do like the idea of a NV scope that can be used before dark and after dawn without burning out.

No plans to use the scope for foxing just rabbits. My .22 is zered at 70 yds and I shoot with the lamp off sticks to 80 yds no problem. Will I be able to replicate this with the N550? And is it worth having a doubler for my purposes? (I would buy the IR).

I know its boring but a definitive answer before I spend £1100 that the Revenue thinks it will be getting would be appreciated.

Thanks.

I have one on my 22-250 for foxes. Its a great bit of kit, and would do the job at 70 yards no problem at all.

Sorry to hi-jack. But can you use the pulsar to shoot in the day????

Yes.

Gimlet,

If you want to toddle on down to Exmouth one evening, or afternoon and then into the evening so you can try both conditions, our rabbits are few and far between at present but I have the 550 on my Anschutz LR carbine. I have the doubler fitted which apart from the obvious advantage, also dramatically improves the short (relative) range focus/clarity.

Cheers
