1st Jan I went out for a look. Spotted a fox leaving a bit of cover, heading downhill. I drove round to where I thought i might meet it, but was too late. Watched it go down the field to a stream and turn left, following the path of the stream. I knew if I drove round a bit I would be in a position to meet it as it walked along. Sure enough, after a short wait, I spotted it walking towards me, a quick shout stopped it in its tracks and gave me a shot. Went on to another bit and put the caller on the roof. After a few minutes I saw a fox cross a field from right to left about 300 yards in front. Then another showed itself to my left but trotted off before i could get onto it. Again, I knew where it was heading, so a 400 yard dash saw me in a position to take the shot. Home with feet up by 7pm with the 1st 2 of 2017 accounted for. Pulsar XQ50 thermal, Drone Pro x15 with dragonfly, Steyr Pro Hunter .243 with 55g sierra blitz king homeloads.

Nice pic, but it's the first barn owl I've seen with a perfect pattern of squares on its leg....photoshopped the anklets off?

Close, but not quite. -
A friend from abroad is thinking about buying these. 3 Holland and Holland side by sides. From the photos I can make out a Royal Hammerless ejector, the other 2 I have no idea. I have the serial numbers and am phoning Holland and Holland tomorrow, but does anyone on here have any opinions on model/rough cost?

What distance are you talking for a fox sized target, using a T67 IR? Ta.

Lead in the crop has a chance of coming back up in a casting (pellet). Tho if a piece get down into the digestive system, it'll get broken down and into the bloodstream pretty quickly. Birds dead in a day or two. I often wonder how many of the reported "poisoned" raptors have eaten lead shot carrion and paid the price. Not only the carrion eaters, buzzards kites etc. Only yesterday, I hit a pigeon that faltered on and fell just on the edge of a wood. No sooner had it hit the floor than a sparrowhawk was on it. I breed peregrines, and will only use birds I shoot myself, it's too big a risk for me otherwise.

Happened to me last year with anothe member on here. He asked for permission and got it, then took 2 of his buddies on and ended up losing there guns for a few months after being silly boys.
