Shotgunspud
Alan and I met in a gun shop about 8 months ago! started talking stalking as you do!! and soon got the impression he was keen to get started, so i offered to help him out best i could and take him on his first stalk!! after getting his new Rifle he was on the phone saying ready when you are mate! So a free weekend came up and off we went! So after meeting up at this fantastic barn we stayed in, it was down to the range for a quick zero! then back for coffee as it was so cold and i was thinking that wind was not going to help matters with the next morning stalk if it didn't drop off! Anyway 6am and the wind had dropped and we are off!!! to a fantastic bit of wet land with rape both sides and a sugar beat field at ether end, Alan words where I have seen the odd deer down on these wet lands!!! I said I bet you have mate Fist stalk under way and we spotted a Muntjac buck making it's way do the side off a maze cover!! so we moved round and I got the sticks up for Alan and talked him into the shot which he took at 70 yards and dropped the buck on the spot!! His face said I all. Next Morning and we are out again! one of the farmers have told Alan that some Roe that had been helping them selves to the rape and where needing some control, so after setting up in one spot for about one hour Alan said SGS I have seen the Roe making there way along this field over here when I have been out rabbiting think it will pay for us to have a look! It couldn't of worked any better as soon as we got there we spotted the Roe moving along the rape!! about 80 meters with a bank as a nice back stop! so we just stayed where we were and waited, now I had in my mine that Alan is new to this and watching deer moving in to a field my start the buck fever off!! so I just slowly talked him though the shot again when the time come, which was seconds away he waited till the exact time the deer where right for taking and placed the shot perfect clean kill,, then I followed up and took one myself again heart shot! 20yards run for both deer and down, again one happy stalker... I tried to tell him that not every stalk ends this way and you have got off to a good start! But I think he new how lucky he was.. Fantastic new bit of ground and a top lad to spend the weekend stalking with many more to come. Thanks for reading SGS Edited December 5, 2011 by Shotgunspud
