mikky
thinking of getting one....or can you suggest a similar gun for the same money £600 any comments welcome mikky
Gimlet
I looked at one too and really liked it. The only thing that stopped was finding out from Highland Outdoors at the Midland gamefair that they don't make them with a 1:9 twist, so they won't like light fast loads which was what I wanted it for. The only 1:9 with a 24" barrel I could find were Savage or Sako. Trouble is the Savage is twice your budget and the Sako three times. On the other hand the Howa I handled - laminate sporter stock - was lovely. If you want it to shoot heavier weight fox-stopper rounds its got to be on the list for your budget. Also worth a look is the RWS Titan for similar money.
Dekers
thinking of getting one....or can you suggest a similar gun for the same money £600 any comments welcome mikky It gets personal, there is nothing wrong with the Howa, as long as the screw cut is ok, I have no interest in Heavy Varmint barrels for the field, others do, fine, and I guess at that price you are talking about the green/black Hogue Plastic stock, definately not for me, but again others like it.........like I say ...it gets personal! Mr_Logic
Have a look at teh Remington SPS tactical. Short barrel is its only downfall. Mine was about 500 quid but they've gone up since then. it shot like a dream and I very definitely regret selling it. 1:9 twist so very versatile. I can vouch for that, it shot VERY well, but for an old tart like me it weighed a ton!
