what do think 2 this

As I said in my op i was just wondering why, not criticizing it. Swans fly past me regular as Im sure you have all experienced. The are slow, fly straight and level and make no attempt to avoid you even if you are in the middle of a field. To then decoy them to a point where they are slowed right down preparing to land just makes it worse. Comparing them in sporting terms to a snipe or teal is unjustifiable. I imagine they wouldnt be great eating possibly tough and fishy if that makes sense.

I would say they wouldn't be that easy hit, people would be more inclined to pull through the body of them rather than the head. Im sure after they had been shot at a couple of times they would eventually start to become more cautios like everything else. Have you ever tried to shoot geese? There hard to hit, r maybe it's just my shooting haha

Let me put it this way...I didn't finish watching the video  Its not something I would do but I guess we are not all the same. Other cultures have different ways, its as simple as that! There is quite a list of things I don't shoot that are legal quarry but I don't have a problem with someone else shooting them.

Yea your right that everyone has different views, but I don't think that people should be aloud to criticise other for shooting a legal species...but sure... :good: .

It's a free country and a internet forum, you are always going to have people with differing opinions and they are as free to be critical as you are to have your opinion.

Personally I wouldn't shoot a swan and their attitude stinks but if it's legal then they can fill their boots

Swans regularly ended up on the table during the war years, I'm told that they are very greasy and scummy to cook but make a reasonable casserole ingredient..... desperate times

I under stand they were popular enough at a time. I have a very old cook book from early 1900s and there are a few recipies in it for swan. A couple of them suggest steeping in milk for a long time and then boiling in the milk or slow cooking for hours and hours. But then again the same book has recipies for heron, cormorant, badgers, otters and all sorts. Some of it very interesting
