browning n spaniel
on one farm we shoot on the farmer is ploughing in the winter stubble [70 acre field], he has ploughed about 75% of it and the pigeons have been on the stubble , but now there going from the stubble and dropping on to the fresh ploughing, seems like they just dont want to leave the field at any cost, iv always beleived that they hate getting there feet mucky, but it dont seem to worry them at mo, weve had lot of rain here but there still on it anyone ever done any good decoying on to ploughing? its a new one on me :hmm:

fenboy
Had quite a few reasonable days decoying on ploughed fields ,always found that its best on fresh ploughed stuff rather than older fields ,why I have no idea.
robborobbo
What time of year roughly do farmers plough a field ready for barley? All the barley fields near me ( Glasgow area ) have not been touched since the combine in late September.
